Volunteer With ReConnect
We couldn’t do what we do without of our wonderful team of ReConnect volunteers. We have over 60 volunteers who help us with all aspects of one-to-one befriending, supporting a group, providing digital support or helping to people find transport solutions to support groups.
Volunteers have usually been affected by a long-term health condition, either themselves or through supporting a friend or family member. They share their invaluable experiences of living with long-term health conditions, to offer support and help other people in a similar situation to build confidence. Volunteers understand the challenges those with long-term health conditions face. All befrienders are trained in communication techniques – so aphasia need not be a barrier. All our volunteers also have DBS Enhanced Clearance and are overseen by our Volunteer Manager.

“I’m writing to express my sincere thanks for the opportunity to volunteer with ReConnect Gloucestershire. My time with the organisation has been incredibly rewarding, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with both the team and the stroke group members. The experience has only strengthened my desire to pursue a career in health psychology, with a particular focus on stroke recovery”.
