How To Look After Yourself When You’re Feeling Depressed
Immediate & Confidential Support
If you need someone to talk to, these organisations offer immediate help from trained volunteers:
Samaritans provides confidential, emotional support to anyone in distress, at any time of day or night. You don't have to be suicidal to call them.
Call: 116 123 (This number is free from any phone, 24/7).
You can also reach them by email or in person at a local branch.

Mind offers a wide range of support and information on mental health topics, including anxiety, depression and coping with the emotional aftermath of a serious illness. Their website has a wealth of resources, including helplines and online communities.
Rethink Mental Illness provides practical advice and support to help people manage their mental health. Their services include support groups, online resources and a dedicated helpline for advice and information.

Navigating finances and benefits can be overwhelming. Fortunately, there's a wide network of organisations that offer free and confidential advice. Here's some of the support available from both government bodies, the wider community and charity sector.
Personal Independence Payment (PIP) – GOV.UK
This is the official government resource for PIP, a benefit designed to help with extra living costs if you have a long-term illness or disability. You can find detailed information on eligibility and the application process directly on the site.
These organisations specialise in providing free, confidential advice and guidance, often with a focus on specific needs related to disability or care.
Turn2us helps you find grants and benefits you may be entitled to. Their online Benefits Calculator is a useful tool that helps you quickly estimate what benefits you could receive based on your personal circumstances.
Disability Rights UK offers expert information on welfare benefits like PIP, Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), and Access to Work. They also run a dedicated helpline at 0800 345 745.
